When I first joined LJ, I was a die hard Merlin/Arthur fangirl, and I only got into other shows and fandoms during the hiatus this year...

That said, parts of the third season of Merlin make me very angry. I've started hating the appearance of Gwen (though I still love Gwen/Lancelot).

Worse, though, is that I watched last weeks episode and found myself shipping Merlin/Gwaine.

I feel like I'm comitting some kind of blasphamy.

Nothing but agreement on Gwen. She was so adorable in S1 before all this G/A stuff, but now that her showing up also means some headdesky Gwen/Arthur development? I really wish she would just stay away. Or elope with Lacelot! Dooo it girl, it's the end game anyway!

Merlin/Gwaine. I see why people would ship it (he cares for Merlin and isn't as emotionally stunted as Arthur) and I kinda ship it one sidedly as well, but... I think it will always be Arthur for Merlin. I can't see him loving anyone else. (Which kinda sucks because Arthur is such a dick at the moment and completely unable to show his affection in any positive way.)

I want their old relationship back. But I've almost made my peace with canon at the moment - I don't care what it does, it's going to suck anyway.

It's a terrible feeling. Definately cheating. It's like I'd go to Merlin/Gwaine to fill the void left by the distant and emotionally stunted Arthur, but I know at the end of the day I'll crawl back into bed with Merlin/Arthur.

It's actually one of the few times I've disagreed with BBC writing. I'm a little shocked.

See! THIS is why I didn't bother watching past first season and I pretty much read modern AU exclusively. It's just better for my fanish sanity that way.
