Today's lab meeting was about CVs, because two of the girls in the lab are supposed to be defending early next year. There was talk about committees on CVs, and shortly after, there was an e-mail requesting volunteers for the negotiating committee for the graduate teaching assistant union, whose contract is up the end of next August.
Putting two and two together, I decided to go to the AGM for the GTA Union to learn a little more about the negotiations, and what the union does. Keeping in mind, I've been pretty anti-union all of my life. I haven't had very good experiences with them.
( A long rant about why I really shouldn't be an active member of any kind of labour group. )On the plus side, there was pizza.
And I think I might sign up to be a union steward.
This is not going to end well.
